About The Artist




Ashley Clack was born in Busan, South Korea. She has been teaching at various dance studios in New Jersey and New York since 2006 and is a certified member with Associated Dance Teachers of NJ. Ashley holds a B.A. in Dance with a minor in Education from Mason Gross School of The Arts at Rutgers University where she studied with Brian Brooks (Brian Brooks Moving Company), Kim Gibilisco (Murray Louis and Nikolais Dance), Randy James (10 Hairy Legs), and Keith Thompson (Trisha Brown Dance Company). She previously attended The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago. There, Ashley had the opportunity to receive additional training from The Joffrey Ballet School and M.A.D.D. Rhythms Tap Collective. She had received further training from Michael Minery (Tapaholics), Jimmy Payne Jr. (Chicago Human Rhythm Project), Erica Sobol (CollidE), New Jersey Tap Ensemble, and Middlesex County Arts High School.
Ashley performed on Good Morning America LIVE on ABC with rap artist Silento, Dancing With The Stars, 'Evolution of Dance Man', & Mickey Mouse. She performed on internship and full-scholarship at Jersey Tap Fest four years in a row performing repertoire by Karen Callaway-Williams, Michelle Dorrance, and Jason Samuels Smith. She attended Sarah Reich's Tap Music Project NYC Winter Intensive in 2016 on scholarship with a performance that streamed live on The Postmodern Jukebox Facebook page. Ashley also attended Tap City: The New York City Tap Festival and performed at The Tap Extravaganza in New York City honoring Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards. She has choreographed and danced for national and international commercials airing in parts of South Africa and France. Her tap dance choreography was showcased at the 2014 NYC Dance Arts Dance Festival, Disney World (Orlando, FL), 2015 Fleet Week on The Intrepid, & 2016 Dance Astoria. She also recently choreographed Hairspray for Main Street Theater Company (Winner of 18 MSTC Tony Awards 2015 including Best Choreography & Best Production). Other performance credits include: New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), Symphony Hall, Wells Fargo Center, The Manhattan Center, opening for Jabbawockeez (Season 1 Champions, America’s Best Dance Crew), promotions with Paramount Pictures Dance Flick, promotions with Chicago: The Musical (Broadway), The Dance Party Show (television pilot), and appeared on So You Think You Can Dance (Season 7, Chicago Auditions).
Currently, Ashley danced in New York City at The Cotton Club in Harlem with Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards and The Sophisticated Ladies (every Monday night). She was a guest lecturer at Temple University & master class instructor at Red Bank Regional High School. She continues to take classes at Broadway Dance Center, American Tap Dance Foundation, Edge PAC, and Millennium Dance Complex; as well as attending festivals, workshops, and conventions throughout the country. Ashley is also the founder/artistic-director of CLash TAP DANCE: "South Jersey's Premiere Youth Tap Ensemble".
